About Luigi's

Luigi’s Trattoria and Pizzeria, established in Livonia by owner Filippo Mainella, is the culmination of his lifelong dream to share his family's authentic Italian flavors with the world. Filippo’s deep-rooted passion for his heritage and traditional Italian cooking inspired him to open the restaurant in 2000 alongside his sons, Luigi, Sergio, and Tommaso. Initially named Luigi’s Pizza and Subs, the eatery quickly gained a reputation for its hand-tossed, stone-baked pizzas.

In 2012, the restaurant evolved into Luigi’s Trattoria and Pizzeria, transforming into a full-service restaurant and bar that offered a diverse menu of specialty dishes. To keep up with growing demand, Luigi's underwent another renovation in 2019 to enhance the kitchen facilities. In 2024, Luigi's expanded its reach by opening a second location in Northville, known as Luigi's Italian Carryout.
